 A SUBJECT YOU'VE ENJOYED STUDYING THIS SEMESTER

This semester has been very different in terms of subject matter because it is my first semester in the electives. This has been great, because you can choose the courses that interest you the most. In this same sense, I think in the two courses that have stolen my attention. First, the course of Psychogerontology (Psychology of Old Age and Aging) taught by PhD Daniela Thumala. In this course they teach us all about the last stage of life, taking it not as a sunset, but as a time to enjoy, and also from a rights perspective, where the elderly are worthy of care and respect as any other person, and even more. The second course that I love is Strategies for intervention with and for the community. In this course taught by PhD Germán Rozas is a fruitful chair that teaches me not only theory, but also how to act before people. To the guys who have men’s time in the career, I recommend them a lot!

CAREER-RELATED WEBSITE

I usually read little of my career on non-academic pages, mainly because I find it unreliable. However, some time ago I signed up for a page called psyencia (https://www.psyciencia.com) from which they constantly send me emails about interesting topics in the area.

While I do not read all the emails, I must say that the information they send is very interesting, because it is contingent, updated, and in general, very complete.

This is divided into two general sections. First there is the Psychology, where they review topics related to therapies (mainly) as well as other aspects of the area. Secondly, there is the Neurosciences menu, where topics are published in relation to the transversality of these two topics.

This page also has a section on opinion articles, where other authors write about topics relevant to the area, and finally, a section of resources where they provide free manuals, guides and videos.

I hope you can visit it, and be surprised by how much there is psychology there for everyone. Hugs!

Post 9: Some reflections

SOME REFLECTIONS...

Ok… my year has been a difficult time, but I’m thanksgiving for it. 

In this month's, I suffered a mourning: My grandpa died. This circumstance, although it was expected, was a great pain for my whole family. He was very old (98 years old) but he was the best grandpa I could have. Always we was together, and we love us so much.  I remember him with very much love.

It was also a difficult year because at this time my parents separated. This news always affects you, but I think it was the best. I still love them as always.

Academically, it has been a very rigorous year, with great demand. This last semester I had 7 courses, plus 1 assistant-ship and English course. That's kind of exhausting, but I love my career!

My love relationship went well; a week ago we completed 4 years together (how fast time passes!). I am very happy with him. Although many times we have problems, solving them together is always pleasant.

Even when my year was heavy, I'm glad for that, because I learned a lot. I hope 2019 is a great year, with more positive surprises than ever!

 

Post 7: My Favorite Music

My Favorite Music

Hi. This week I'll talk about the music that I like.

In music, I am a lover of different styles, and generally associated with different periods. In other stages of my life, my favorite styles have been Rock, Pop, Reggae and Celtic music; However, at present, the style of music is Folk and Rock. I like this style a lot because I feel in an atmosphere of peace that at the same time becomes dynamic, a kind of "background music" to walk through life. 

I started to hear Folk about 3 or 4 years ago, when I started to know certain bands thanks to my boyfriend, however, since 2012 I was approaching this style through new versions of songs (in acoustic, with sounds of Folk) that brought out singers that I liked then.

One of my favorite bands are Citizens and Saints (Americans), Rend Collective Experiment (Irish) and Papel Maché (Spanish).

I have never been to concerts properly Folk or Rock, mainly because the groups I like have not come to Chile, but I have gone to concerts of other styles, and I have loved.

Post 5: Photograph

A photograph that I love ...

I present my dog. Her name is Almendra, and I have her with me for 10 months. In this picture she was 2 months old, shortly after I found her. She lived in a park where I went camping, it was abandoned. When I saw her, I wanted to stay, and since then we have not separated again.

I took this picture in my grandfather's house, specifically in the garden, because the contrast with the flowers makes her look more beautiful than she already is. That day I took my dog ​​so that my family would know her. They have loved her since then.

I really like this photo because it looks like a model, as if it were posing for me. Apart, it comes out very tender, and reflects all the tenderness and puerility that she has. Her hair looks bright, and in her smallness, manages to fill the entire photographic frame.

Post 4: Food.

Foods 

Hi everyone, today I will tell about the food. 

One of my favorite activitys is cooking. I love when the different tastes  are mixed, but, mainly I love to cook like a way of  showing love. My favorite areas of the cooking is the bakery and all baked food, as well as the decoration and ornamentation of the food plates. 

About of my favorite foods, I have one for each food: My favorite soup is the chicken soup homemade. My favorite salad is the mix of lettuce, ruccula, peanut and olive oil. My main course favorite is the Canelloni stuffed with meat, bolognese sauce, bechamel sauce and chesse. My favorite dessert is the any tipe of cake. Finally, my favorite beverage is the raspberry natural juice.

My favorite restaurant is one of sushi (his name I forgot it). From there they have the best sushi of Santiago. Is in Macul.

On my daily life, I try to eat very diverse foods, even when I have to bring the lunch to the university.

Post 3: My favorite piece of technology

Hi everyone! Today I’ll present you my favorite piece of technology

Right now I write in it, because my favorite piece of technology is the Laptop. This is my study tool, my entertainment, my notepad and my work agenda. My laptop is purple, exceptionally lightweight, and easy to carry. I got it in the Christmas celebration from the last year, like a gift of my mom. I needed so much, because my old laptop been so slowly, which was so exasperating and uncomfortable.  I use it every single day, in the university, because I don’t use notebooks. I write, read, watch movies, and chat in it. I like it because I believe that laptops are many pieces in one, and because for his size is possible carry it for everywhere.   My life without it would be harder to organice.   

Post 2: My beautiful Career <3

Since I was a child, it was always fun to think about studying or working in the future. I went through different options throughout my life. I tell you some: Theater, Dance, Astronomy, Politique Sciences, Medicine (Pediatric, Endocrinology, Neurology, Psychiatry), Economy, Biochemistry, Chemistry Engineering, Theology, Philosophie, Art, etc.

As you can see, my problem was never not knowing what to study, but want to study many career. When I finish my high school, I wasn’t sure what studying, so I enrolled in a pre-university for 1 year. In the middle of the year, I had an experience in which I knew that "psychology" was the career in which I would learn the first tools to begin my purpose in this world.

Upon entering the University of Chile, my security on Psychology as the indicated career was fortified. And although it has sometimes been difficult to stay in the race successfully, I have learned to overcome the difficulties and get ahead. I'm very happy with my university present.

When I think about the kind of work I would like to have in the future, I have several options, because I like many areas of psychology (as I have always been!). For now, I dream of being able to have some kind of NGO that works in a mixture of clinical and community psychology, which allows people who need it and who can not afford it to benefit from treatments and interventions. I would very much like to be able to go to specific communities to help them have a better quality of life.

Hi! My name is Fernanda, and I'll tell you a portion of my history.I born in august, 1996, in Santiago, Chile. My parents lost a daughter on year before my born, consequently they cared me with a vengeance. I'dont have brothers, but I always lived with family members closely, consequently, I never felt very alone. At the end of the school year, in 2010, my parents got divorced. In the same year, I became to Christianity. This is the best thing that has ever happened to me. Currently, I'm studying psychology at de Universidad de Chile. In my spare time, I enjoy painting, talk with other people, modify clothes, and dance. Despite the issues, I love live, and my plan is serve others to live better.

The moment we are now, the life is lived online, and to belong to this is necessarily come into websites. To come in digitalization life, we should share some of our personal information on social media. That not is wrong in itself, the problem emerges when we exceed the limit, for example, when we share our address or our password of our credit card on websites like Facebook. This is so insecure! However, the social medias, like Instagram (my favorite app) can help us to maintain contact with distant family, and the same time, with our interesting topics.
